[NUTRIgastronomie] Why eat organic? 

You may not know it, but today due to the vast amount of pesticids and preservatives we ingest, our corpses don’t decay anymore… Sorry about this gore piece of news.. But this tells a lot about how food impacts our health daily. Hence you may want to learn more about the “Top dirty dozen” fruits and veggies , the most contaminated by pesticids ones. These are the ones you may want to privilege when buying organic as it is difficult to always eat 100% organic.  I also added a list of Top Clean, ie least contaminated ones.

This list is established yearly by  EWG (Environmental Working Group) based on pesticids residuals (tests are conducted by the Department of Agriculture and Food And Drug Administration).  Amongst the 48 most common fruits and vegetables, samples of  32 0000 pieces are made. Scores are normalized between each food so that it can be compared and ranked. There is no similar listing for Europe but by documenting a bit there is a list for Israel , and very comparable results stand out.

NB: Pesticids go beyond skin so peeling fruits and vegetables will not be sufficient to protect you.
